Blueair 403 Smokestop Air Purifier
The perfect solution for removing all tobacco smoke, gaseous odours and VOC's ( volatile organic compounds ) in rooms up to 365 Square Feet.
This Blueair 403 Smokestop still has the 3 stages of HEPA filtration with whisper quiet operation and exceptional particle filtration found on the standard 403 model, but in addition, also has a specific Smokestop filter to deal with gas and odours. The SmokeStop filter is a progressive carbon filter with a honeycomb-type structure that improves airflow and has hundreds of odor and gas absorbing carbon pellets. The filter contains 2.0 lbs of coconut shell activated carbon impregnated with a 70/30 blend of Potassium Hydroxide (KOH) and Potassium Iodide (KI). The carbon eliminates volatile organic compounds (VOC), which are responsible for odors.
The SmokeStop filter is recommended for use in rooms where heavy gaseous pollutants such as cigarette and cigar smoke or other VOC's are present. . Blueair’s HEPASilent™ filter technology removes 99.97% of airborne allergens down to 0.1 micron, and the recyclable HEPA filter need only be changed once every 6 months. An indicator light tells you when its time to change the filter.
Class Leading CADR ( Air Volume ) & Ultra Energy Efficienct
This model has a class leading airflow rate of 75-280 cfm, delivering clean, allergen free air in rooms up to 365 square feet (about 18’ x 20’). giving 5 complete air exchanges per hour, and CADR ratings (a measure of contaminant-free air delivered) of 115 for dust, 115 for smoke and 115 for pollen. The energy efficient, eco-friendly 403 consumes just 30-70 watts of electricity and is Energy Star Certified.

How it works
The Blueair 403 intakes dirty air through the side of the unit. This air is passed through the pre-filter where large particles are trapped, then through the electrostatic HEPA-type filter where the small particles are trapped, and then through the ionization chamber where the air mixes with negative ions. When the air cycles back through the unit, the charged particles cling to the electrostatic filter media. The combined filtration technologies allow the Blueair Air Purifiers to achieve 99.97% filtration efficiency down to .01 microns ( normal Hepa filters only tend to filter down to 0.3 microns).
The 403 is also available with standard particle filtration ( no carbon ) which is ideal for allergy sufferers and other health-conscious individuals that need high-efficiency particle removal. The unit contains one polypropylene 3-stage progressive filter that contains millions of ultra-thin fibers with each state trapping progressively smaller harmful particles as they pass through the pleats. The Blueair 3-stage progressive filter effectively removes every type of particulate air pollutants, including allergens, pollen, mold spores, dust, pet dander, bacteria, and viruses. ( The model on this page does this too, with has the addition of the added carbon for the effective remocal of smoke , fume VOC's and gaseous odours).
