What to do when your house is flooded
I expect if you're reading this, you probably do not have the time to be reading through streams of text (you probably have a house and belongings that need saving!) so here are the main things to do when your house is flooded in bullets points:
- Don't mess about with electricity, stay away from sockets and keep children well out of flooded the area and any electrics Take photos, this could be priceless when filling out your insurance claim Save whatever items you can, but do not place clothes, electrics or furniture in front of a heater or in direct sunlight. The intense heat and light can misshape, discolour and warp them. Use a dehumidifier instead to dry out items, it's more effective and won't damage your belongings. Open your windows in the house , this ventilation will dramatically help the house to begin the drying out process. Get a dehumidifier ASAP.
