Five things Blueair air purifiers do better than most.

If you are considering investing in an air purifier and have done some research online, you will no doubt have been surprised ( and perhaps confused ) by the sheer amount of information available on the subject of air quality in the home or office and just exactly which type of purifier you should choose. You can buy a semi decent unit for around £50.00 to £150.00 from the likes of Argos or John Lewis and as long as your room is fairly small and you do not have a serious allergy or health issue, often that may be all you need. But what exactly do you get for your money when you step up to a professional machine sometimes costing four or five times the price? In today's blog we look at the top Swedish manufacturer Blueair, who for over twenty years have produced what many people in the trade consider to be the world's best Hepa air purifiers. Here we list the top five things that a Blueair machine does really well compared to standard air purifiers. 1. Remove pollution up to five times more quickly It is all very well having a genuine HEPA ( High Efficiency Particulate Air filter ) in your air purifier, but if the fan motor inside the unit is not powerful enough to drag the dirty air through that filter frequently enough, the chances are that new allergens, dust and other pollution are arriving into the room quicker than your air purifier is pulling it out. Hence the reason some people can become disillusioned with their new unit after a few days use with no noticeable benefit. All Blueair purifiers are designed to recirculate all of the air in your room through the HEPA filter a minimum of five times every hour. That means one complete air change in your room every twelve minutes. Compare that figure to most High Street air purifiers which only offer one to two air changes an hour. 2. Use special higher grade HEPA filters to remove smaller particle sizes including viruses and bacteria. The filters inside many standard air purifiers filter out particles down to 2 microns in diameter. To put that in perspective, a human hair is around 100 microns in diameter , so you can see even basic machines have the ability to clean the air to a very high degree. However, the filters used in Blueair machines are a special medical grade which are also capable of removing even smaller particles all the way down to 0.1 microns, which means they are also dealing with many nasty viruses and bacteria which normally travel straight through standard Hepa filters unhindered. 3. Make Less Noise It is not easy to make a very powerful air purifier which is also silent. Naturally if you are pulling in ( and then blowing back out ) a huge amount of air every second, there has got to be a certain amount of noise. This is one of the biggest differences between professional machines built to a standard and those which are built to a price. Blueair units are so quiet that you quite literally need to put your ear right up next to the vent to hear anything at all. Yet amazingly you can feel a huge amount of filtered air passing out of the unit just by placing your hand over the top. 4. Use Less Electricity It may seem unusual, but despite being some of the most powerful air purifiers on the planet, Blueair units are typically three or four times more energy efficient than other brands. In fact the Blueair Sense uses only 4 watts of power, compare that to most other brands which use typically around 80 - 200 watts an hour. Even the seriously powerful 650e model uses not much more energy than a light bulb. 5. Work harder for longer - Built to last a lifetime. For any air purifier to remove airborne allergens and pollution effectively, you need to run it all the time. There is no real point in switching it on for an hour or so a day and expecting your air quality to improve dramatically as a consequence. The trick is to run your machine all day every day, even doing this on a constant low speed will be far more effective than using it in short bursts at full speed. Air cleaning is a constant cycle, new dust and allergens are arriving all the time and reducing these particles substantially can only be achieved by a constant recirculation of the room air through on an ongoing basis. For this reason, all Blueair units are designed and built to run twenty four hours a day seven days a week with no loss of performance. The galvanised steel casings and highest quality fan motors inside each and every one of their air purifiers can be relied upon to take hard work in their stride and give many years of trouble free service. Each Blueair air purifier comes with a full five year warranty.
