How do you remove the smell of the smoke? Finally, Room Size - (always read the small print).
This is one of the most common mistakes people make when it comes to choosing an air purifier. We have already explained earlier in this article how it is important to try and choose one that is powerful enough to drag all of the air in your room size through its filter around five times an hour for it to be genuinely effective. This is known as the number of ACPH (Air Changes Per Hour). But it is easy to be misled on this.
For example, some really well known manufacturers promote their air purifiers as being suitable for fairly large room sizes, without always making it clear just how many air changes an hour they will be providing when used in those room sizes. Often a deeper look at the fine print reveals that some of them would only be providing one or two ACPH (which means they are taking around 30 to 60 minutes just to recirculate the dirty air through the filters once) as opposed to the far quicker, more effective recognised standard of 5ACPH (which is equivalent to recirculating dirty air through the filters once every 12 minutes).
So the message is, take the advertised room size with a pinch of salt, always ask how many actual air changes the unit will provide in your room – regardless of what ithe manufacturer claims on the box.
