With 8,300 BTU/h of output it handles rooms up to 25 m² comfortably, making it well suited to bedrooms, smaller living rooms, conservatories, and home offices. The three fan speeds give you control over how hard it works, and the programmable timer means you can set it cooling before you get home or schedule it to run through the night.
Control is via the LCD touch panel on the unit itself or the included remote. The built in carry handles and castor wheels make it easy to move between rooms, so one unit can cover the whole house if needed.
Beyond cooling, the PAC ES72 runs as a standalone dehumidifier, removing up to 21 litres of moisture per day. That makes it useful well beyond summer. In autumn and winter it earns its keep tackling damp rooms and condensation, and works well as a clothes dryer on days when the washing will not dry outside.
De'Longhi's condensate recirculation system means the collected moisture is recycled back through the cooling process rather than collecting in a tank, which reduces how often you need to intervene. It runs on R290 refrigerant, a low global warming potential hydrocarbon, and carries an A energy efficiency rating.
A note on noise: the PAC ES72 runs at 65 dB. That is comparable to a normal conversation in the room. Fine for daytime use, worth bearing in mind if you are a light sleeper.
