Air conditioning, without the outdoor unit
Most air conditioning means an indoor unit, an outdoor unit, and a wall full of pipework joining the two. RAC Solo does away with all of that.
It's a single, slim unit that sits indoors and does the whole job itself. it simply draws air through two small holes in an outside wall.
The result is a calmer, simpler kind of comfort cooling in summer, heating in winter, and a lot less disruption getting there.
Not a portable air conditioner in disguise either
If you've lived with a portable unit, you'll know the trade-offs: a hose wedged through a window or a hole cut in the frame, a permanent hum from the compressor sitting in the room with you, a bulky box taking up floor space.
RAC Solo skips all of that. There's no hose, no window kit propping a window ajar, and no box parked in the middle of the room. Just a slim unit fixed to the wall, venting through two small, permanent holes. It's a proper fitted appliance, not something you wheel out for summer and put away again.
Installation. Simple, but not DIY
RAC Solo is designed to be far less disruptive to install than a traditional split air conditioner, there's no outdoor unit to mount, no refrigerant pipework to route and no FGAS qualifications needed.
That said, it isn't something to fit yourself. Every RAC Solo needs:
● Two holes core-drilled through an external wall (162mm for the 1.7kW, 2.0kW and 2.5kW; 202mm for the 3.0kW)
● A dedicated mains electrical connection
We'd recommend a competent handyman or qualified electrician. Many customers use one trusted installer who can handle both. It's a straightforward job for the right person. Once that's done, the unit itself simply mounts to the wall and is ready to use.
How to choose your size
Picking the right size matters more than almost anything else here, too small, and the unit will run flat out on a hot day and still struggle to bring the room down to temperature. If you're between two sizes, go with the larger one.
Step 1: Measure your room. Length × width, in metres, gives you the floor area in m².
Step 2: Match it to a size. These figures assume a fairly typical room: a standard ceiling height of around 2.4m, reasonable insulation, and moderate sun exposure.

Step 3: Check for anything that pushes you up a size. If any of these apply, size up or get in touch before you order:
● High or vaulted ceilings (taller than 2.4m)
● Lots of glazing, roof lights, or a south/west-facing aspect
● A loft conversion or top-floor room under the roof
● Regularly has 3+ people in it, or generates its own heat (home gym, several computers, a kitchen-diner)
● Open-plan or knocked through to another room
● A room that already tends to run warm
If two or more of these apply, it's worth sizing up rather than sizing to the room alone.
